Administrative Educational Facilitator:   April D.  Young 

Ms. April has an extensive background spanning education, mental health, management, emergency services, and the legal field. She possesses a deep passion for history, art, music, organization, and lifelong learning. She attended Motlow State Community College and later Middle Tennessee State University on an academic scholarship, majoring in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law while minoring in Psychology, Criminal Justice, and History. While in college, she was honored to serve as SGA Vice President and later President, and was an active member of TISL, Mock Trial, and other student organizations. She has never stopped pursuing knowledge, furthered her education at Harvard Extension School, and holds certifications across numerous specialized fields.

Her overlapping careers have provided her with rich, diverse work experience. April has owned and operated her own day school, served as the director of a private school, and continues to teach classes within criminal justice settings. She has managed two mental health facilities and continues to facilitate NAMI group sessions. April has experienced the legal system from nearly every vantage point in the courtroom—from sitting beside a judge to type up official orders, to standing before the bench arguing and advocating for clients, to supporting individuals assigned to court-ordered services. Additionally, April has worked on crisis hotlines and answered 911 calls for decades as a certified EPD, EFD, and EMD, as well as serving as a vital member of the police department's crisis intervention team.

Once nominated as "Most Involved" for her high school superlatives, that tradition of deep community engagement followed her into adulthood. April has served as the President of the International MOMS Club, founder of a local Moms Club, President of a youth cheerleading league, Girl Scouts Troop Leader, and an elected member of the county’s Library Board. Her extensive volunteer roles include, but are not limited to, Church Youth Programs and CASA. April is also a certified life coach, ordained minister, and holistic nutritionist. She looks forward to organizing and serving as a house mom for the new Homeschool High School Greek Clubs in the coming years.

Educational Facilitator - Timothy E. Hendrickson

Mr. Tim attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he earned his degree in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. While at UT Martin, he played soccer his entire life and later assisted in managing the women's soccer team. After college, he transitioned into coaching while employed at Franklin County High School, where he successfully coached both the men's and women's soccer teams for many years.

In addition to athletics, Tim has a sharp knack for business. Over the years, he has successfully owned and operated several independent businesses. He has also held key local and regional management positions for major corporations, including Walmart, Rite Aid, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Anthony & Sylvan Pools, where he currently serves as the Director of Operations.

As an experienced entrepreneur and leader, Tim is highly skilled in all areas of business management and is never afraid to pivot or try new things. This includes revisiting foundational skills, as he steps back into the instructor role to teach driver’s education! Outside of his professional life, Tim loves all sports, physical education, running his business initiatives, and spending quality time with his family.

Educational Assist - Angela R. Hendrickson

 

Mrs. Angie adores volunteering and finding every way possible to support the Department of Children's Services and local foster systems—a calling some might say was her true destiny. She brings a diverse background spanning human resources, corporate management, business, and horticulture.

Professionally and academically, Mrs. Angie has a natural gift for English Language Arts. She is the ultimate go-to expert for proofreading and ELA support, not to mention a trusted authority on horticulture and plant care.

Alongside managing a busy household and serving as a dedicated caregiver to individuals of all ages, Angie is a passionate real estate investor. She successfully flips houses from the ground up—managing everything from the hands-on construction and interior design to the final marketing, looking like she stepped right out of her own HGTV show.

While all core curriculum courses are facilitated by the instructors mentioned above, we would like to extend our sincere recognition to the following educators, guest instructors, and administrators. Each has significantly contributed to our educational journey through specialized in-person classes, online coursework, or technical certifications, or has generously offered to lead future classes in their fields of expertise for others who may be interested:
